COVID-19SwabTesting FAQ
What is a respiratory panel?
A respiratory panel includes multiple pathogens on their testing in addition to COVID-19.
COVID-19 infections are frequently accompanied by a second viral infection, and the respiratory panel can tell you which viruses you are carrying.
Pathogens tested include viruses (Flu, RSV, etc) and bacteria (Pseudomonas, Haemophilus, etc). Each lab has a unique panel and cost.
A COVID-19 test only gives you the result for the novel COVID-19 virus.
How do you test for COVID-19?
The COVID-19 sample is taken via nasal or oropharyngeal swab. This means we swab either your nose or your throat, depending on the type of test kit or your preference.
How long do the results take to get back?
It takes approximately 3-5 days to get results, and this is getting faster over time. Shipping / Pick-Up takes 24 hours. In-lab testing requires 48-72 hours. Processing Results / Fax 24 hours.
How much does testing cost?
See above for our swab fee and testing cost. The government has said that testing is free. It is free if you get tested through the state department.
Why are you charging people to be swabbed?
I am a small business, and I have to pay my employees. I do not (and cannot) receive money from lab companies to collect samples or send off tests, so I must charge for my staff's time and expertise as well as their risk to the virus.
Is there a drive-thru option?
Yes, we are doing our best to provide a drive-thru or drive-up option to get tested. When you arrive, you should text or call my office. We will come to the car to meet you. 512-829-1104 Please include the color, make, and model of your car.
How can I protect myself from other sick people with COVID-19 while I get tested?
If we test you in your car, your exposure will be non-existent. Our staff will be protecting themselves from exposure, which in turns protects you from them. The outdoor air is great at diluting and carrying away viral particles, so you should not be close enough to anyone in order to be exposed while getting tested.
How can I protect your staff from contracting COVID-19 from me?
When they swab you, please do your best to cough or sneeze in the opposite direction of my staff. If you feel it coming on, please turn your head and cough into the crease of your elbow. Sometimes this can't be controlled, so my staff will be taking precautions to prevent exposure.

This company maps viral genomes and mutations around the world. In this diagram, you are able to watch that the China cases to the US were shut down quickly with closing the border to China.
Unexpectedly, most of our cases came from travelers in Europe. You can see that the cases in the USA exploded, and the viral strains show consistency with European strains.
